Composite materials and new railing systems can make your backyard deck attractive, safer and more durable.
Don is telling us about some new options when building your deck. In the past, our only option was wood, which needed to be treated so insects won't eat it or it won't rot. Today, we can choose a composite. This is part plastic and part wood. These used to get very slippery when they got wet. Today they make a product called Veranda that has grooves like real wood to create some traction so you wont slip. When you are finished with your deck, there are also new options in your railing. You can choose from not only wood, but glass or stainless steel.
