Welcome to Home Owner's Library

Don walks you through how to light the exterior of your home, and why you should do it.

Don is teaching us about the different outdoor lighting choices. Lighting your home can be for security, decoration, or for safety reasons. Which ever reason you have there are many products to choose from. They have solar lights which come on at dusk and turn off at dawn. These lights run on solar or sun power so they don't affect your electric bill. If you do choose a low voltage light, first lay out your lights to see where you will like them. Next, dig a small trench for the wires. Then, insert the lights and cover the wires. If you have a porch light but do not want to leave it on all night, you can buy a timer and set exactly what time you want your lights to come on and turn off. With so many different styles and kinds, the sky's the limit.
